Here are some of the inimitable superstitions caused by some of the most famous poker masters:
• WSOP Main Event Champion Johnny Chan always has orange in front of him at the poker table. Many years ago when smoking was still allowed in the card room, he was annoyed by the smell of smoke on the table. He found that the scent of the orange cleared his nostrils, like a breath of fresh air. He usually still has oranges on the table with him – although smoking is prohibited now.
• Poker celebrity Sam Farha hangs an unlit cigarette from her lips – even though she is a non-smoker. This is the lucky charm, visit Temanpoker. Superstition?
• George “The Engineer” Epstein can be seen with a small sheet of paper on the table, taking notes during the game. Yes, he did use the notes to help make important decisions, but that too became a kind of superstition, which he easily admitted.
• Superstition can also be applied to the part of rooting players. Pius Heinz, winner of the 2001 WSOP main event, wore the same white hoodie every day at the tournament. Sitting in the stands is the cheering party, each one wearing a white hoodie as a support. It worked.
